The Mechanical Innovation Base
The Mechanical Innovation Base of HUST was officially founded in March 2006. It is a young organization set up by the robot club of the School of Mechanical Science and Engineering, integrating exploration with innovation. With the talent training as the ultimate purpose, contests and projects as the main talent-sharpening instruments and brand building as the strategic target, the MIB intends to cultivate high quality talents with lofty ideal and team spirit by systematic training, project production, team communication and cooperative development, to cultivate technology innovation talents with research and innovation abilities and to cultivate interdisplinary talents with sound basic knowledge and expertise.

Exploratory Spirit
We are good at seizing fleeting thoughts, using brainstorming and releasing creative passion. In practice, we are bold in breaking through the constraints of textbooks and creating something new and original. Moreover, we are adept at questioning and exploring. The achievements that have been made prove the exploratory spirit is the spark of our innovation and is the strong support of our team.
Team Spirit
We love our own team and have clear team concept. The principle that we adhere to is to work together and show our special prowess. Each works agglomerates the smart mind and sweat of the team players. In the team, we can not only finish the work with high efficiency, but also can establish close friendship.
Sense of Responsibility
We have strong sense of responsibility. With the objectives and responsibility in mind, we can finish the work self-consciously and creatively. It is such responsibility that supports us to overcome many technical and inward problems.

Training
While training the members’ innovative design abilities, we still attach importance to the accumulation of the members’ non-specialty knowledge. During the weekends, summer and winter holidays, we provide training courses and lectures which are addressed by senior teachers or the winners of important competitions. In order to cultivate the members’ overall quality, we resort to electricity training for machinery members and resort to machinery training for electricity and information technological members. In the series of training programs, valuable experiences are taught and a lot of related experiments are carried out. The obscurity in textbooks is immediately changed into fun and joy. In MIB, you will go ahead of your counterparts and have more widening vision.
Achievements
At present, the MIB has mature and precise project teams, including Mechanical Innovative Design Competition Project Team, CCTV China University Robocon Project Team, Robot Soccer Team and Elite Program Team. In the major contests at home and abroad, the members of each project team show their special prowess and excellent performances and make great achievements.
1）The Mechanical Innovative Design Competition Project Team
This project team is oriented to National College Students’ Mechanical Innovative
Design Competition. Its main purpose is to design innovative products with market
value according to the requirements of every competition.
In 2006, four subteams of this team became finalists in the second National College
Students’ Mechanical Innovative Design Competition and ranked first in terms of
the medal number and the first prizes.
Among them:
“Transformational Stair-Climbing Wheelchair with Planet Wheel” and “Assistant” won
the national first prize;
“Intelligence Rehabilitation Device” won the national second prize;
“Wrist Dividing swiveling Artificial Limbs” won the national third prize;
In 2008, 10 subteams participated in the trial of National College Students’ Mechanical
Innovative Design Competition in Hubei province, and won 9 first prizes and 1 second
prize.
Among them:
“Guardrail Cleaning Machine”, “Hygienic Chopsticks Box” and “Solar Access Control
System” won the national first prize respectively and ranked first in terms of the
prize number in the National Mechanical Innovative Design Competition on behalf
of Hubei province.
2）CCTV Robot Project Team
CCTV Robot Project Team is a professional team oriented to ABU Asia-Pacific Robot Contest which is videoed all the way by CCTV reporting groups.
3） Robot Soccer Project Team
The team mainly consists of Humanoid Robot Team and Simulation Robot Team. The former is designed for the making of miniature upright walking robots and the latter, engaged in program development of robot intelligence, is a team oriented to the FIRA Robot Simulation Competition.
In 2007, the project team won prizes in"Siyuan +1"Cup of the Eighth National
Robot Soccer Championship and 2007 FIRA Cup Tryout China:
1. The Humanoid robot won the championship by its basic performance;
2. SimuroSot (5:5) won the second and the third prize;
In 2008, the project team won the following prizes in the Thirteenth FIRA Cup:
1. The world champion in “the Human-Robot Competition”;
2.The world silver medal in “the Autonomous Obstacle Avoidance Navigation” Competition.
3. The fourth place in “Simulation Robot Competition”, “Human-Robot Shoot Competition”,
“Long Distance Running” and “Dash”;
Recruitment
The base recruits new members in the latter half of each semester. After passing
the written examination and interview, new members will join the recruit company
and receive unified training. Those who pass the exam after training can make two-way
choice and enter the desirable project teams and finally become the full members
of the MIB.
