On March 30th, The 10th Hubei Province Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese (FROC) held its second plenary session in Wuhan, where the 12th Liang Liang-sheng Award for Science and Technology Progress was conferred to 21 scholars from all over the Hubei Province (vacancy for first prize). 11 Scholars in HUST have won the prize, ranking No. 1 in the winners’ number. Among them eight have won second prize and three have won third prize.
The second prize winners in HUST were: Ma Ding (Tongji Medical College), Liu Dechang (School of Energy and Power Engineering), Chen Weihong (School of Public Health), Chen Xuedong (School of Mechanical Science and Engineering), Shao Xinyu (School of Mechanical Science and Engineering), Zheng Chuguang (School of Energy and Power Engineering), Xu Jing (School of Optical and Electronic Information), Liao Yuhua (Wuhan Union Hospital). The third prize winners are: Chen Jihong (School of Mechanical Science and Engineering), Yuan Jing (School of Public Health), Zeng Shaoqun (Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelctronics)
It is known that Liang Liang-Sheng Award for Science and Technology Progress was inaugurated by the C-BONS GROUP president Liang Liang-sheng, who made a generous donation to FROC of Hubei Province in 1994. It is awarded every two years for the returned overseas Chinese, countrymen in Hong Kong and Macao, and their families or relatives who made significant contribution to Science and Technology.
The applicants for 12th Liang Liang-sheng Award for Science and Technology Progress are returned overseas Chinese, their families, and Chinese with foreign nationality who had at least won the second prize of province or ministry award for science and technology progress, the relatives who had at least won the first prize of province or ministry award for science and technology progress, and academicians of Chinese Academy of Science and Chinese Academy of Engineer who are the families of returned overseas Chinese. The United Front Work Department of CPC Central Committee and FROC in HUST gave it much precedence and actively organized the application. Related tasks were successfully fulfilled with the support of Research and Development Office of HUST and related schools.
