Intelligent Manufacturing Sub-Forum of 2025 Intl Industry-University-Research Cooperation Symposium held in HUST

Oct 28, 2025

On Oct 20, the Intelligent Manufacturing Sub-Forum of the 2025 International Industry-University-Research Cooperation Symposium was organized by the School of Mechanical Science and Engineering of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). During the event, nine renowned experts and scholars in intelligent manufacturing from the United States, Canada, Japan, France, Australia, the Netherlands, Singapore, and other countries and regions exchanged ideas on the frontiers and the deep integration of enterprises, universities, and research institutions. Nearly a hundred experts, scholars, and student representatives from China and abroad participated both online and in person.

The conference reviewed the origins and purposes of the forum, highlighting the achievements made by the School of Mechanical Science and Engineering since it began hosting the sub-forum in 2023. This demonstrated the school's commitment to promoting international collaborations among industry, academia, research, and application.

The session also included an overview of the school's recent progress in internationalization and an outline of the university's broader international strategy to deepen practical cooperation with leading overseas research institutions.

The academic program comprised sessions on "Intelligent Manufacturing and Human-Machine Symbiosis" and "Novel Methods and Educational Innovation in Intelligent Manufacturing", featuring experts from institutions such as the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, University of New South Wales, Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), University of Tokyo, Dassault Systèmes, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, University of Twente, Nanyang Technological University, and Harvard University. Faculty members from the host School of Mechanical Engineering chaired the sessions.

Following the presentations, seven experts engaged in a round-table discussion focusing on topics such as "Sino-Foreign Joint Supervisor Training", "Collaborative Innovation in Industry, Education, Research and Application", and "Artificial Intelligence from a Corporate Perspective". They explored new approaches to industry-education integration and new international talent cultivation models.

The conference has become an excellent platform connecting domestic and international partners, as well as universities and industries. It not only facilitates the sharing of cutting-edge research and stimulates innovative ideas, but also establishes a practical new bridge for promoting the synergistic advancement of academic research, industrial development, and talent cultivation.

The School of Mechanical Science and Engineering will continue to rely on this high-level dialogue platform to chart a new course for innovative development in the field of intelligent manufacturing with global partners. It will take the deep integration of industry, academia, research, and application as a lasting driving force and a core objective in advancing international cooperation.
