On May 15, the 6th Janus Materials Conference was successfully held in Wutongyu Academic Exchange Center of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). Initiated by Prof. Yang Zhenzhong of Tsinghua University in 2015, , the conference aims to provide an academic exchange platform for scholars to share new thoughts, new technologies and applied researches on Janus materials, thus promoting their development.
The conference is jointly held by the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (HUST), Key Laboratory of Material Chemistry for Energy Conversion and Storage (HUST), and Biomedical and Protective Materials Engineering Research Center of Hubei Province, with Prof. Yang Zhenzhong of Tsinghua University and Prof. Zhu Jintao of HUST as co-chairmen.
Xie Xiaolin, the Vice President of HUST; Zhu Jintao, the Dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering; Zhu Qijun, the Vice Dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering; and Zhao Qiang, the Vice Dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering were present at the conference. More than 40 experts and scholars from 31 universities and research institutes including Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, and the Institute of Chemistry of Chinese Academy of Sciences were invited. In addition, faculty and postgraduate students from the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (HUST) attended the conference.

Prof. Yang Zhenzhong, Co-chairman gave an opening speech.
Prof. Zhu Jintao, Co-chairman and Dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering gave an introduction to the school.
The opening ceremony was held by Prof. Liang Fuxin, general secretary of the conference and associate professor of Tsinghua University. Prof. Xie Xiaolin gave a welcome speech at the opening ceremony and gave an overview of HUST and the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. Prof. Zhu Jintao, the co-chairmen of the conference and Dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering also gave a brief introduction of the research progress and talent training of HUST and the school. Finally, Prof. Yang Zhenzhong, the co-chairmen of the conference and professor of Tsinghua University gave an opening speech, expressing his expectations for the success of the conference.
During the sessions, the experts and scholars from various universities and institutes shared their ideas and discussed the preparation and application of Janus materials in biomedicine, photoelectric devices, biomimetic materials, self-drive motor and other related fields. A total of 22 reports were given during this conference.

This conference provides a valuable opportunity for the teachers and students of HUST to exchange ideas and discuss with renowned experts from around the country regarding the advanced research of Janus materials and colloid materials. It will not only improve the scientific research levels in the field of chemistry of HUST, but also promote the exchange and cooperation among universities in related fields.
