On July 29th, the 5th China Publishing Government Award was officially announced. Robotics: Modelling, Control, and Vision published by HUST Press is included in the sixty books which are shortlisted for this award. This is the second time that HUST Press has won the award following the commendation received for their previous electronic audio-visual product "Chinese Sign Language Interactive Teaching Software". HUST Press becomes one of the university presses that has won the award for both book and electronic audio-video.
The award-winning book, written by the team of Xiong Youlun, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, is the first outstanding work systematically introducing the basic theory and frontier technology in the field of robotics modelling, control, and vision. It reflects the original achievements of the team's long-term research leading the way in robotics. The book also won the fourth Hubei Publishing Government Award.
Robotics is known as "the crown jewel of the manufacturing industry" and represents the level of scientific and technological innovation and high-end manufacturing of a country. The publication of this book provides a source of theoretical innovation for the formation of robotics and robot industry clusters, and is of great significance for the construction of robotics disciplines and the training of talent.
