On October 29th, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Education announced the results of the evaluations for science and technology parks across Chinese universities, among which HUST was rated ‘excellent’. This is the second time that the science and technology park of HUST has won the national honor after being included in the list of first-rate science and technology parks in 2011.
In this evaluation, 115 science and technology parks from all over China were assessed from multiple perspectives. Only 22 of which were rated as excellent.
The construction of the Science and Technology Park of HUST started in 1999. In 2001, it became a composition of the science and technology parks group in the East Lake Hi-tech Zone. This was done in accordance with the model of "one park with multiple universities", and was recognized by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Education as one of the first 22 national pilot science and technology parks. In 2010, it was declared and approved as a national university park, ranking among the national team and becoming the first independent national university science and technology park in Hubei province. In 2011, it was included in the list of first-rate science and technology parks. In 2021, it won the title of “Excellent National University Science Park”.
The Science and Technology Park of HUST is located on Daxueyuan Road, which is within the core area of Optics Valley, Wuhan. Based on the advantageous disciplines of HUST, the park now has optimized the overall arrangement which is composed of four major industrial sectors. These include opto-electronic information, intelligent manufacturing, software and education, across various areas like big data, internet, the modern service industry and new materials.
