On April 27, Marko Princevac, Vice Provost of the University of California (UC), Riverside, and Wang Jun, Assistant Provost of UC Riverside, visited HUST. Chen Jianguo, Vice President of HUST, met with the delegation. Chen Jie, Director of the Office of International Affairs of HUST, presided over the meeting.
In his welcoming remarks, Chen Jianguo pointed out that UC Riverside is the first U.S. university that has visited HUST in the post-pandemic era. HUST and UCR shared a long history of cooperation. Since 2015, HUST has sent more than 300 students to UC Riverside for various study abroad programs. He hoped that the two sides will leverage their strengths in the fields of engineering, economics, management and other disciplines, and carry out in-depth cooperation in talent training, student exchange and academic research.
Marko Princevac expressed his gratitude for HUST’s warm reception and stressed that UC Riverside attaches great importance to cooperation with HUST. He pointed out that face-to-face communication is of great significance for education and that more UC Riverside students will be encouraged to come to HUST for further studies. He also urged more academic exchanges between teachers to enhance international research collaboration.
Wang Jun presented UC Riverside’s recent development and its characteristics and briefly introduced the “3+1+N” Joint Educational Program. He expected that the two universities will expand the scope of cooperation to promote student exchange, faculty exchange, joint PhD programs and other forms of collaboration.
Chen Jie briefed HUST’s global strategies, especially regarding talent training, disciplines construction, and other aspects. She expected both sides to make efforts for deeper and more practical shared programs.
