On April, 12^th, news came that HUSTers won the Outstanding Winner Award of MCM/ICM ( The Mathematical Contest in Modeling/ The Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling) held in US in Feb. 2016 from the organizing committee. Besides, it’s the first time that HUSTers have won the INFORMS Award（The Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences Award）. This year marks the fourth time that HUSTers have won the Outstanding Winner Award of MCM/ICM with the former three successively awarded in 2010, 2012 and 2014.

This year, altogether 26 teams from Qiming College and the Mathematical Modeling Base of School of Mathematics & Statistics, HUST participated in the MCM/ICM, among which, the team made up of Liu Xiao, Wang Dingchang and Jiang Guodong from School of Economics won the Outstanding Winner Award and INFORMS Award. Apart from this, another 8 teams won the first award while many the second and third award.

It’s introduced that MCM（The Mathematical Contest in Modeling）is an international contest co-launched by AMS (American Mathematical Society), SIAM (Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics), NSA(National Security Agency) and INFORMS ( The Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences) since 1985. Since 2000, ICM（The Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling）has been added and held simultaneously with MCM. In 2016, more than 12,500 teams from 17 countries in the world participated in the contests, the scale of participating hitting the record.
