Intelligent Technology Innovation Center for Sports and Health of Hubei Optics Valley Laboratory was established in Huazhong University of Science and Technology on Oct 26. It is dedicated to building an interdisciplinary innovation platform focusing on the fields of sports and health.

It is reported that the Center concentrates on practical problems and key technologies in sports and healthcare and takes intelligent fibers and fabrics as its main carriers. It is designated to provide integrated solutions to facilitate physiological assistance and sports enhancement for healthy people, make friendlier disease care and rehabilitation facilities, provide more intelligent medical services and diagnosis equipment, and promote the digitalization of medicine and sports education.

At the establishment ceremony, four young scientists from the fields of material science, artificial intelligence, medicine, and optoelectronics, namely Prof. Tao Guangming, Prof. Chen Min, Prof. Zhou Ning, and Prof. Hou Chong, jointly delivered an academic report, entitled “Intelligent Fabrics Empowering Future Sports and Health”. After years of diligent research, they have successfully developed intelligent cushions, cooling fabrics, and other smart fabrics with prospects for full-scene applications in sports, healthcare, and medical services, which has attracted academic and industrial attention.

The four professors believe that intelligent fibers and fabrics will make diagnosis and treatment more imperceptible, give more humane feelings in medicine, and change the way technology serves people in the fields of sports, health, medical care, and education.
