On March 9th, the 2023 Standing Committee Meeting of the Global High Magnetic Field Forum was held in Las Vegas, USA. Professor Li Liang, the Director of the National High Magnetic Field Center, was elected as the new president of the Global High Magnetic Field Forum by the Standing Committee.
During the meeting, the heads of major high magnetic field laboratories in the world introduced their laboratories and discussed the development of academic exchange in high magnetic fields. Li Liang introduced the operation and breakthroughs of the Pulsed High Magnetic Field Facility project during Covid-19, as well as the plan to optimize and upgrade the Pulsed High Magnetic Field Facility during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025).
Founded in 2015, the Global High Magnetic Field Forum is an international academic institution initiated by high magnetic field laboratories in the United States, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy, China, and Japan. It aims to unite the high magnetic field laboratories to jointly promote the development of high magnetic fields.
Li Liang is an international leader in high magnetic field research. He returned to China and joined HUST in 2007. He led the team to complete the Pulsed High Magnetic Field Facility, a National Major Science and Technology Infrastructure Project, which made a great breakthrough. As one of the main founders of the Global High Magnetic Field Forum, Li Liang's election as the president highlights China's international influence in high magnetic fields, which will provide strong support for the development of high magnetic fields in China.
