On November 22, the closing ceremony of “Sustainability Tour 2024” was held in Beijing by the Delegation of the European Union to China. Nearly 300 people attended the event. The China-EU Institute for Clean and Renewable Energy (ICARE) at HUST was one of the key participants. Vice Dean Zou Mingqing of ICARE, led a team of teachers and students to the ceremony.
The ceremony kicked off with guests gathering for a group photo amidst a warm and cheerful atmosphere. Zou Mingqing and Jorge Toledo, the EU Ambassador to China, along with other guests, reviewed the highlights of the event.
The HUST team engaged in deep discussions with other participants, setting the stage for future collaboration. Jorge Toledo highly praised ICARE’s accomplishments and motivated the young participants to contribute to environmental protection. HUST students interacted actively with experts on environmental issues from the EU, discussing in-depth topics ranging from renewable energy to green development policies.
The “Sustainability Tour 2024” covered 14 project sites across 12 provinces and municipalities, revealing the close collaboration between China and the EU. Nearly 300 participants from various institutions, including the EU, delegations of EU member states and EU-funded projects, took part in the tour. The event in total generated about 100 social media posts, 10 blogs and 20 videos, which received over 60 million views on Weibo, WeChat and other platforms.
