As early as November 25th, 2017, Jieyuan Xu a freshman took part in the China Marrow Donor Program (CMDP). In August 2019, CMDP asked him if he wanted to be on the shortlist for donation. And the Xu’ family agreed without hesitation. Affected by the epidemic, Xu finally completed the physical examination in June this year. On July 3rd, his stem cells were collected and he became the 425th hematopoietic stem cell donor in Hubei Province. The cells donated by Xu were also flown to Sichuan Province on the same day to save the blood diseased patient.

That very day Mr.Bo Chen, director of Red Cross Society of China Hubei Branch, and other leaders visited Jieyuan Xu. Chen presented Xu with a commemorative certificate and medal for his stem cell donation.

Jieyuan Xu has been committed to public welfare during his school years. And he has been awarded the Excellent League Member, Social Welfare Scholarship and other honors. "Fear comes from the unknown," Said Xu. "I used to be afraid because I didn't know the exact process of the donation and what it would be like. I think it's very meaningful to help a leukemia patient continue to live." After years of participating in public welfare activities and volunteering, Xu was used to thinking that it was not a big deal, but his firm and selfless dedication gave the recipient hope to continue living.
