News.hust.edu.cn (Correspondent: Huang Teng/Reporter: Zhang Wenyi) On October 19, the women's basketball event of the 7th CISM Military World Games (CWG) kicked off at Huazhong University of Science and Technology Optics (HUST) Valley Gymnasium, with the participation of 6 strong teams from China, the U.S., Germany, Canada, Brazil and France.

Shao Xinyu, Li Yuanyuan, Zhan Yiqing, Ma Jianhui, Chen Jianguo, Liang Qian, Xie Xiaolin and other leaders of HUST watched matches and cheered for players. Party Secretary Shao Xinyu, President Li Yuanyuan, Vice President Zhan Yiqing and Deputy Party Secretary Ma Jianhui met with the teams' representatives.

With fast breakthroughs, accurate three pointers and overwhelming blocks,the women players' impressive performance aroused thunderous applause and incessant cheers among Chinese and foreign spectators.

During the break, a variety of shows ignited the spectators' passion. HUST's street dance club presented a passionate dance show named Dumbo, arousing bursts of cheer. Dream Years presented by the cheer squad of Primary School Affiliated to Huazhong University of Science and Technology vividly interpreted youthfulness, receiving rapturous applause. Bitty presented by HUST cheer squad was passionate and charming.

The event attracted wide attention from CCTV, the Xinhua News Agency, Changjiang Daily and other media outlets. CCTV fielded a team to televise the event in full course.

HUST had made full preparation for the event. To ensure the success of the event, all departments stuck to their posts and volunteers worked hard.
