On June 8th, “Reuters TOP 75: A List of Asia's Most Innovative Universities” was released annually by Reuters and Clarivate Analytics (the former Thomson Reuters Intellectual Property and Science Business). The list presents educational institutions that has fruitfully promoted progress and developed new technologies. Huazhong University of Science and Technology(HUST) has been on the list for 2 consecutive years. HUST has ranked 33rd in Asia 2017, listing 6th among the mainland universities.
There are 21 universities in Mainland China on the list in total, which are: Tsinghua University (6th ), Peking University (13th ), Zhejiang University (19th ), Shanghai Jiao Tong University (20th ), Fudan University (26th ), Huazhong University of Science and Technology (33rd ), Beijing University of Chemical Technology (34th ), Tianjin University (39th ), South China University of Technology (40th ), East China University of Science and Technology (43rd ), China University of Petroleum (45th), Southeast University (49th ), Nanjing University (53rd ), Dalian University of Technology (57th ), Sichuan University (59th ), Nankai University 61st ), Xi'an Jiaotong University (62nd ), Sun Yat-Sen University (63rd ), Harbin Institute of Technology (65th ), University of Electronic Science and Technology of China(70th ), Tongji University (75th ).
It is reported that "Reuters TOP75 Asia's Most Innovative Universities" list has been cooperated with Clarivate Analytics since its first release in 2016.The 2017 list of is again based on the exclusive data and multi-index analysis of Clarivate Analytics, including the number of patent application and the data of academic papers citation, which are important indicators for Reuters to rank the most innovative universities in Asia-Pacific region. There are 25 universities in China (including 4 in Hong Kong) on the list, ranking the first by numbers, there are 19 universities in Japan, 5 in Australia, 2 in Singapore, 1 in New Zealand and 1 in India on the list as well.
