2022 HUST Postgraduate Graduation Ceremony Held

Jun 30, 2022

Following the commencement for undergraduates, HUST held an in-person graduation ceremony for postgraduates of the 2022 Class on June 23 at Optics Valley Gymnasium. 6,686 students gathered to celebrate their achievements as well as the conclusion of their HUST journeys.

The ceremony began with a warm-up session, in which attending graduates sang along to I Love You, China, and the graduation theme songs enthusiastically and energetically while waving national flags to the beat.

Xingcheng ("Star Way"), an original video clip made especially for graduates, was played as a gift. The video featured testimonies of HUSTers from different classes and showed their resilience and courage to serve the country, contribute to economic construction, and make scientific breakthroughs.

Li Yuanyuan, Chair of the University Committee, conferred the degrees to the representatives of outstanding graduates, and those who will work in outlying areas of West China, the grass-roots departments, and the national key units.

President You Zheng delivered a speech. He exhorted the graduates to stick to their initial aspirations and move forward in line with the country. You extended congratulations to graduates, hoping they would give their best effort and remember the school motto – Virtue, Erudition, Truth, Innovation.

Student speaker Wang Xing, a doctoral graduate from the School of Public Health, reflected on his ten years at HUST and expressed his gratefulness to the school and teachers. He called on graduates to embrace the era, strive for excellence, and take courage to explore the truth.

Teacher representative Pan Linqiang from the School of Artificial Intelligence and Automation, the winner of the excellent supervisor award, celebrated the Class of 2022 and encouraged graduates to take their next step in life with passion and newfound courage.

Wu Jinwei, current Chair of a town Committee in Hunan province and a HUST alumnus who graduated from the school of Journalism and Information Communication in 2018, advised graduates that the only way to be prepared for the unknown future and realize their life values was by working hard.

The ceremony concluded with the chorus of the school anthem, where graduates sang out loud together. “When the melody flouts around, I am immensely proud of being a student on HUST!” said students present.
