Mar 24, 2023

HUST delegation, headed by Vice President Chen Jianguo, concluded their 4-day trip to Singapore starting on March 12th. The delegation made official visits to several local universities with the aim of promoting cooperation in education, scientific research and talent training.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony

On the 12th, the delegation visited the National University of Singapore (NUS), and met with its Vice Provost Susanna Leong, and Aaron Thean, Dean of the College of Design and Engineering. Then the MOU signing ceremony was held, along with two department-level Joint Educational Framework agreements.

In retrospect to the progress made in academic research, scientific innovation and talent training, Prof. Susanna Leong further pointed out that, under the MOU, the two universities would “continue to leverage on our respective strengths and comparative advantages to complement each other’s strategic work”. This would focus primarily on four areas, namely: Mechanical Engineering, Control Science and Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Materials Science and Engineering.

Chen Jianguo indicated that the signing of the MOU would open up even wider prospects for bilateral exchanges and in-depth cooperation in various fields.

Subsequently, the two sides jointly signed the MOU. Geng Yuanming, Chair of the School of Artificial Intelligence and Automation Committee, and Xu Jianfeng, Vice Dean of the School of Mechanical Science and Engineering, signed department-level “3+1+1” Joint Educational Framework agreements with NUS Prof. Aaron Thean.
