On November 2nd, the 2023 annual meeting of the China Council for BRICS Think-tank Cooperation (CCBTC) and the first Global South Think Tanks Dialogue was held in Xiamen, Fujian province. Guo Yezhou, Vice Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the CCBTC, delivered a speech. Jin Xin, Director of the Research Office of International Department and Secretary-General of the CCBTC, gave a keynote report. Professor Ouyang Kang, Dean of HUST’s Institute of State Governance, attended the meeting. At the meeting, the Institute of State Governance was selected as a council unit of the CCBTC.
Established in 2017, the CCBTC is led to collaborate with the BRICS Think-tank Cooperation by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, and serves as an open working mechanism and platform that has united domestic universities, research institutes, enterprises and public institutions. The CCBTC’s primary role is to engage in academic activities and collaborations between think tank dialogues within the framework of BRICS cooperation. Since its establishment, the CCBTC has proactively responded to the consensus of “BRICS+” reached by national leaders of BRICS. Not only has it conducted joint research and academic exchange with think tanks from BRICS, it is also dedicated to exchanges and collaboration with think tanks from other emerging markets and developing countries, making participation and promotion of a new type of South-South cooperation a major focus and important aspect of its work.
