On October 22, Frances Bowen, Vice-Principal of Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), and her delegation visited HUST. Zhang Yonghui, Vice President of HUST, met with the guests. Representatives from the Office of International Affairs, School of Foreign Languages, School of Economics and School of Management, attended the meeting. Han Jing, Deputy Director of the Office of International Affairs, hosted the meeting.
On behalf of HUST, Zhang Yonghui extended a warm welcome, and briefly reviewed the development of the partnership between the two universities, as well as recent significant advancements, including the signing of the Key Partnership Agreement and the establishment of seed fund projects. He further introduced the construction and departmental settings of humanities and social sciences at HUST. Zhang Yonghui expressed his hope that the visit of Vice-Principal Frances Bowen would serve as an opportunity to enhance exchanges and cooperation in relevant fields between the two universities, jointly benefiting the faculties and students and facilitating more achievements.
Frances Bowen thanked HUST for the warm reception and acknowledged the productive cooperation between the two universities in recent years. She highlighted the newly established School of Humanities and Arts at Queen Mary University of London and expressed an interest in deepening exchanges and collaboration in the fields of linguistics, economics and finance, and business administration, etc.
At the discussion session, Xu Mingwu, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages; Kong Dongmin, Vice Dean of the School of Economics; and Hu Peng, Assistant Dean of the School of Management, each introduced the information and cooperation initiatives of their respective schools. The two sides held in-depth discussions on areas such as joint training of students, summer schools, and joint academic workshop etc., reaching a broad consensus on enhancing cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, Vice President Zhang Yonghui and Vice-Principal Frances Bowen signed an agreement on the dual master’s degree in Economics and Management between the two universities. Through this program, both sides agreed to jointly train more high-level talents with innovative thinking and global competence.
