Recently, Thieme Publishers announced the 2025 Thieme Chemistry Journals Award list, with Dr. Tang Conghui and Dr. Yuan Weiming from the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) among the 93 global awardees.

Dr. Tang Conghui, a researcher and doctoral supervisor at HUST, earned his bachelor's degree from HUST and his Ph.D. from Peking University. He later conducted postdoctoral research at renowned universities and research institutes in Germany and the United States. His research focuses on transition-metal catalysis, green chemistry, and biomimetic organic synthesis, with 41 SCI-indexed publications and over 5,000 citations. Since joining HUST in 2020, he has published multiple papers as a corresponding author in top-tier chemistry journals. Dr. Tang has earned numerous accolades, including the 2025 Thieme Chemistry Journals Award and the 2024 Chinese Journal of Chemistry Rising Star Scientist Award.

Dr. Yuan Weiming, also a researcher and doctoral supervisor at HUST, graduated from East China Normal University and conducted his postdoctoral research at institutions in Sweden and Germany. Specializing in free radical chemistry, he has developed metal-mediated strategies to control free radical activity, creating a series of efficient and highly selective chemical transformations involving reactive alkyl radicals. As a corresponding author, Dr. Yuan has published over 30 papers in top-tier chemistry journals and filed for 6 invention patents. He has led and participated in several national key research projects and serves as a Young Editorial Board Member for the journals Chin. J. Org. Chem. and Org. Chem. Front.

Established in 1999, the Thieme Chemistry Journals Award is an annual recognition for early-career independent researchers worldwide who demonstrate exceptional promise in organic synthesis, catalysis, and related fields. The awardees are exclusively selected by the editorial boards of Synthesis, Synlett, and Synfacts, honoring and inspiring innovation among the next generation of chemists.
