HUST delegation visits Asian partners to boost education and technology collaboration

From May 5 to 9, Vice President Zhang Yonghui led a delegation to the National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University, the University of Malaya, Mahidol University, and Chulalongkorn University. The visit aimed to strengthen high-level education and technological cooperation, with a particular focus on advancing talent cultivation in medicine and interdisciplinary medical engineering, as well as fostering practical collaboration in the field of “healthy aging.”

 

 

 

At the National University of Singapore (NUS), Zhang Yonghui met with Vice President (Global Health) Teo Yik Ying and Associate Provost Kah Hin Chai. They held in-depth discussions on deepening student exchanges and joint training programs, strengthening industry-academia-research innovation collaboration, and expanding new areas of practical cooperation. The two universities renewed 3+1+1 joint training agreement in the field of engineering management.

 

Zhang Yonghui attended the 6th HUST-NUS Joint Forum for Young Scholars in Computer Science, which drew participation from over 60 young scholars and top talents from both universities.

 

 

 

 

At Nanyang Technological University Singapore, Zhang Yonghui met with Vice President Wai Fong Boh and other representatives. The two universities engaged in forward-looking discussions on deepening cooperation in high-level talent cultivation, enhancing faculty and student exchanges, and strengthening collaborative research. Both parties signed a joint training agreement in optoelectronics and exchanged cooperation agreements for their respective international competency training programs.

 

At NTU’s Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information (WKWSCI), Zhang Yonghui held talks with Associate Provost May Lwin (Director of the Asian Centre for Health Behavioural Insights and Interventions) and Chair Qiu Linchuan of WKWSCI.

 


 

 

At the University of Malaya, Zhang Yonghui met with Vice Chancellor (Academic and International) Hasniza Zaman Huri and Associate Deputy Vice Chancellor Yvonne Lim Ai Lian. Both sides reached consensus on establishing joint research platforms and creating a collaborative seed fund for scientific research. The two universities renewed their agreement on the joint laboratory for naval architecture and marine engineering disciplines.

 

At Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, Zhang Yonghui met with Tewarit Sarachana, Assistant to the President, Ratsiri Thato, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Pranut Potiyaraj, Dean of the Faculty of Science, and representatives from the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Discussions focused on establishing joint research platforms and enhancing academic and scientific exchanges.

 

 

At Mahidol University in Thailand, Zhang Yonghui attended a strategic cooperation meeting between the two institutions. Wanpimon Senapadpakorn, Director of the Division of International Relations of Mahidol University, along with leaders from the faculties of Engineering, Pharmacy, and Nursing, and the International College, held discussions with the HUST delegation. The meeting yielded clear consensus on expanding student exchange programs across disciplines, establishing joint research seed funds, and creating collaborative laboratories. The two universities subsequently organized five discipline-specific exchange sessions covering nursing, pharmacy, medicine, environmental engineering, and humanities.

 

 

During his visit to Malaysia, Zhang Yonghui met with Zhao Changtao, Education Counselor of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia.
