The 2025 International Conference of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine – Asia Pacific (TERMIS-AP 2025) opened on Oct 17 in Wuhan, co-hosted by Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), Shanghai University, the Wuhan Institute of Industrial Innovation and Development, and Biolake of the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China).
Focusing on breakthroughs and clinical applications in biomaterials, tissue engineering, stem cell technology, and regenerative medicine, the conference brought together over 1,600 experts, scholars, clinicians, regulators, entrepreneurs, and investors from more than 30 countries and regions.
At the opening ceremony, Wuhan Vice Mayor Meng Hui, Zhang Guangjun, chair of the committee of HUST, Gao Liang, vice president of HUST, TERMIS Global Chair Abhay Pandit, TERMIS CEO Sarah Wilburn, and other distinguished guests attended the launch of the TERMIS-AP 2025 Consensus, a document outlining major challenges, future directions, and a framework for cross-continental collaboration.
Over the course of three days, the event featured 80 forums and activities such as the TERMIS high-level dialogue with global academicians and leaders, a global entrepreneurship competition involving 12 teams from six countries, and editorial sessions with leading journals such as Nature Materials and Science Robotics.
Mentor networking sessions and bilateral symposia between China and Australia, and China and the Republic of Korea, further enhanced international exchange.
Coinciding with China’s release of the regulations on clinical research and the translational application of new biomedical technologies, the conference served as a vital platform for integrating policy, research, and industry, accelerating the journey from lab to clinic and from paper to product.
