The sixth UN Job Fair (Wuhan session) was held on Oct 24-25 at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). Co-hosted by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) and HUST, the event brought together 40 representatives from 23 UN-affiliated agencies for two days of in-depth exchanges with over 2,500 students and faculty members from 26 universities.

Li Qing, deputy secretary-general of the CSC, and HUST Vice President Zhang Yonghui delivered remarks at the fair’s opening ceremony, with Zhang calling for closer cooperation with international organizations to empower youth as ambassadors of global dialogue and contributors to sustainable development.

Li reviewed the CSC’s achievements in cultivating international organization talent over the past decade and highlighted the importance of strategic investment in young people as the UN marks its 80th anniversary.

Miguel Mourato Gordo, director of the Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance at the UN Office of Human Resources, emphasized in a video address that the UN Job Fair has become a key platform for young Chinese aspiring to serve in global governance.

Gustavo da Silva Araujo, head of the Talent Management Unit at the UN Industrial Development Organization, encouraged Chinese students to engage in international affairs and contribute to the future of global governance.

Following the opening ceremony, UN representatives held discussions with Chinese universities and visited 20 HUST schools and affiliated hospitals for on-site exchanges. On Oct 25, consultation booths were set up for one-on-one interactions, where representatives introduced their agencies’ missions, structures, and recruitment programs, drawing enthusiastic student participation.

Since its launch in 2019, the UN Job Fair has become a vital bridge between Chinese universities and international organizations, inspiring young talent to take part in global governance and international cooperation.
