The 2026 Hubei Science and Technology Innovation Conference was held on Jan 4 at Hongshan auditorium, where the 2025 Hubei Science and Technology Awards were officially announced.

At the venue, a red carpet stretching over 100 meters extended from Hongshan Road into the auditorium, creating a ceremonial highlight for the event. Twelve leading scientists walked the red carpet, including two academicians from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST): Academician Ding Lieyun from the School of Civil and Hydraulic Engineering and Academician Yin Zhouping from the School of Mechanical Science and Engineering.

HUST achieved outstanding results at this year’s awards as the top-performing institution. A total of 45 projects and individuals from the university received the 2025 Hubei Science and Technology Awards, ranking first in the province in both the total number of awards and the number of first prizes and above. Academician Ding was honored with the Hubei Science and Technology Outstanding Contribution Award, and four researchers received the Hubei Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award.

Additionally, HUST secured 20 first prizes, including seven in natural science, three in technological invention, and 10 in scientific and technological progress, underscoring the university’s strong research capacity and innovation leadership in Hubei.

Liu Bo, Chair of the University Committee, and Gao Liang, Vice President of HUST, also attended the conference.
