The Sino-Thai Youth Photography Exhibition, co-hosted by Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), Thailand’s Digital Economy Promotion Agency (Depa), and Vivo Mobile Communication Co, opened on Jan 10 at Bangkok’s iconic ICONSIAM.
HUST’s News Center organized the exhibition as a continuation of the 2025 Thailand ODOS (Outstanding Development Opportunity Scholarship) Summer Camp, during which 50 outstanding Thai students, selected through a rigorous process, visited HUST between October and November last year for a six-week immersive study program focused on AI and the metaverse.
A total of 43 works are on display, showcasing cross-cultural experiences from dual perspectives: 33 photographs capture the students’ first-person creative viewpoints across three series, while 10 documentary-style images, taken by accompanying HUST staff members, provide a third-person perspective of engaging exchange moments.
Each work includes the author’s own commentary, telling a warm story of growth and friendship. At the opening, 10 students received “Outstanding Work Awards” for their unique visions and heartfelt expressions.
Ni Yang, Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, noted that the exhibition reflects the deep friendship between the two nations and serves as a living example of people-to-people ties under the Belt and Road Initiative. He encouraged young people from both countries to work together to create an even brighter future for Sino-Thai cooperation.
In a video address, Zhu Gang, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s Center for International Economic and Technological Cooperation, praised HUST’s “technology + culture” exchange model for fostering mutual understanding and trust among youth.
Hatsadin Kampiranond, Director of Depa Asset Management Office, highlighted that the exhibition extends the ODOS program beyond the classroom, showcasing students’ voices and their transformation from participants to cultural ambassadors.
This photography exhibition is part of key cultural initiatives celebrating the 50th anniversary of China-Thailand diplomatic relations and ran until Jan 18.
