Jun 20, 2026

Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) provided language services and talent support for the 2026 World Youth Development Forum, with faculty members and students shining at the event. The forum was held in Wuhan from June 15 to 17, bringing together over 500 youth representatives from more than 120 countries to engage in discussions on youth development, technological innovation, and intercultural exchange.

Six international students from HUST attended the opening ceremony and plenary session of the forum.

During the achievements release segment at the opening ceremony, Parment Numa, a PhD student at HUST who hails from France, was invited by the organizing committee to read the Youth Declaration of the 2026 World Youth Development Forum. Numa also shared his reflections on intercultural exchange, understanding civilizations, and youth responsibility at the youth roundtable.

Meanwhile, Master's student Risat from Bangladesh participated in the pre-event segment dubbed "In Wuhan, Linking the World", recording a vlog to promote Wuhan from a younger person’s perspective.

International students from the Center for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language participated in the Sino-French youth dialogue, sharing their study experiences at HUST with French guests.

During the forum, HUST organized visits for over 90 international students to the Hubei Humanoid Robotics Innovation Center and the Changjiang Civilization Museum, offering them an opportunity to gain hands-on experience, and greater insights into China's industries and historical culture.

A total of 38 student volunteers from HUST were responsible for reception, on-site guidance, and information consultation during the forum. Some of them came from the Yuyi language service team of the School of Foreign Languages, a group that has long provided volunteer translation services for UN-related organizations.

James George, Acting UNDP Resident Representative for China, expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Yuyi team for their volunteer language services rendered to the UNDP since 2021.
