Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) hosted the Sixth International Students Dragon Boat Friendship Race at the Yujia Lake dragon boat training base on June 11. The event attracted over 140 international students of more than 30 schools from over 40 countries, forming six competing teams. Vice President Zhang Yonghui attended the race's opening ceremony.

In his speech, Zhang Yonghui said that HUST's dragon boat culture practice base has been designated by the Ministry of Education as a Social Practice Activity Base for Chinese and Foreign Youth, serving as a vital platform for cultural exchange between China and other countries. He encouraged the participating international students to compete collaboratively and promote the campus culture.

After fierce competition, the Danfeng Team from the School of Basic Medicine claimed the championship. The Yinglong Team – comprising members from the First Clinical School (Affiliated Union Hospital) and the Second Clinical School (Affiliated Tongji Hospital), and the Yufeng Team – formed by the School of Economics, School of Public Administration, School of Journalism and Information Communication, and School of Foreign Languages, earned silver medals.

Meanwhile, the Yunmeng Team from the Center for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, along with the Hualong Team and Tongzhou Team – which included participants from the School of Computer Science and Technology, School of Electronic Information and Communications, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, and the China-EU Institute of Clean and Renewable Energy – won bronze medals.

Since its launch in 2020, the race has become a signature event that promotes campus culture and celebrates the graduation season for international students. This year's race was organized under the guidance of Public Relations Office and co-hosted by the School of Physical Education and the School of International Education.
