Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) held the 2026 graduation ceremonies and degree conferral events for undergraduate and graduate students on June 23 and 24 at the Optics Valley Stadium.

Attendees included Liu Bo, Chair of the University Committee; You Zheng, President; deans and leaders from various departments; and alumni representatives. Both ceremonies were presided over by Zhang Yao, Vice Chair of the University Committee.

Vice Presidents Feng Dan and Xu Xiaodong announced notifications regarding degree conferral and recognition of outstanding graduates, exceptional theses, and graduates employed in the western regions, grassroots and key State-owned institutions.

Liu Bo awarded certificates to representatives of the honored students, while student representatives presented flowers to outstanding mentors.

In his address at both ceremonies, You Zheng reflected on the graduates' achievements at HUST, and expressed his hopes for their future: to remain steadfast in their ideals, excel in professional practice, embrace innovation, and cultivate a deep sense of responsibility and humanistic values.

Undergraduate representative Xiong Yuanqing and graduate representative Xie Xudong shared personal reflections and experiences in academic and scientific endeavors.

During the undergraduate graduation ceremony, faculty representative, and Dean of the School of Design, Cai Xinyuan, highlighted the essential qualities of creators in the new era, encouraging graduates to remain true to their original aspirations, pursue truth, and hold the world in their hearts.

During the graduate commencement ceremony, faculty representative, and Director of the Wuhan National High Magnetic Field Center, Li Liang, urged students to integrate their personal aspirations into the nation's development.

Alumni representatives Lu Jiazheng, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, who enrolled in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 1985, reflected on his decade-long educational journey during the undergraduate commencement ceremony, sharing career insights and encouraging graduates to aim for steady, far-reaching progress.

Alumni representative Chen Chunying, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, who enrolled in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering in 1987, expressed her hope during the graduate commencement ceremony that everyone would strive for excellence on the journey of serving the nation through scientific and technological advancements.

Following the ceremonies, HUST's leaders, academicians, directors and deputy directors of the University Academic Committee performed the graduation tassel-turning ritual, conferred degrees, and posed for commemorative photos with the graduates.
