The Optics Valley Intelligent Sensing Industrial Innovation Summit was held in Wuhan on April 12. During the event, the Optics Valley Intelligent Sensing Technology Innovation Institute, with Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) as the leading institution, was officially inaugurated, along with a signing ceremony.
Attendees included Shen Yue, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Wuhan East Lake High-Tech Zone (also known as the Optics Valley of China, or OVC); Academician Liu Sheng from the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Academician You Zheng, President of HUST; and Vice President Gao Liang.
The new institute was established under the leadership of the Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone Administrative Committee, with HUST as the supporting institution, in collaboration with several organizations, including JFS Laboratory, and HGTECH Co. The institute focuses its research on key areas, such as intelligent sensing microsystems, embodied intelligent sensing, smart medical sensing, and future sensing technologies. The institute aims to advance core technologies in intelligent sensors, and ensure the security and stability of the industrial supply chain.
Shen expressed hope that the establishment of the institute would serve as an opportunity to integrate OVC's scientific, educational, and industrial resources, drive advancements in core technologies, and cultivate specialized and innovative enterprises.
You highlighted that sensors are crucial for fostering new quality productive forces and ensuring the security of industrial and supply chains. The institute will play a role in promoting the high-quality development of China's sensor industry. As the primary supporting institution, HUST will collaborate with all partners to drive the construction and advancement of the institute.
During the ceremony, HUST signed a joint construction agreement for the institute with OVC and several co-founding organizations. Additionally, agreements on scientific research collaboration and sensor fund cooperation were completed.
You, Liu, and other experts and scholars delivered specialized reports on topics such as high-end sensors during the keynote session of the summit.
