A delegation from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) traveled to Hong Kong on Sept 10 to attend the low-altitude economy activities of the 11th Belt and Road Summit.

HUST signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Low-Altitude Economy Alliance. The memorandum aims to further expand cooperation in scientific research and innovation, talent development, industrial collaboration, and international exchange, providing a new platform for HUST to participate more deeply in the innovative development of the low-altitude economy in the GBA.

The delegation attended the low-altitude economy session of the 11th Belt and Road Summit.

Government officials, university professors, standards experts, and industry representatives from countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative gathered for the event. They exchanged views on industrial collaboration in the GBA, international standards alignment, the commercialization of the low-altitude economy, and the international development of Chinese low-altitude economy companies.

The delegation also visited the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) to attend the “Future of Low Altitude Economy – An Inter-City Dialogue”.

During a panel discussion on cross-disciplinary collaboration in the low-altitude economy, Tan Gangyi, Dean of HUST’s School of Architecture and Urban Planning, shared HUST’s thoughts on leveraging its multidisciplinary strengths to advance low-altitude economy research and platform development.

Tan Gangyi, on behalf of HUST’s Low-Altitude Economy Research Institute, released a joint statement of intent on low-altitude aviation standards and interoperability.

Sheng Jingbo, Deputy Director of the Office of International Affairs (Office of Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan affairs) from HUST, also held discussions with relevant officials from HKUST on university exchanges, scientific research cooperation, and cooperation in the field of the low-altitude economy.
