At 9am on March 20, HUST President, Li YuanYuan, along with other university leaders, opened the 2021 HUST Spring Long-distance Running Festival.
At 9:25, with the sound of the starter’s gun, more than 5,000 participants set off from University Main Entrance Square to kick off the 5km event.
Following a fierce race, Huang Hui, Yi Dengbing, and Gao Jiwen emerged as the top three in the student men’s group. Wang Qiuju, Rao Xinran, and Wei Ningning made up the first three places in student women’s group. In the faculty men’s group, Yi Lin, Zhu Bin, and Peng Qimin won the top three spots, while, Liu Liqiao, Zhang Dan and Zhu Min rounded up the faculty women’s group.
Recently, a series of sporting and cultural competitions are being held at HUST, aiming to attract more teachers and students to participate in physical exercises, help improve physical fitness, and also to foster distinct sports culture in HUST community.
Since the inception of the Spring Long-distance Running Festival in 2016, it has become one of the most anticipated sporting events on HUST calendar. In recent years, plenty of teachers, students, alumni, and their families have been attracted to this event; demonstrating the charm of this competition and providing the beautiful spectacle of mass sports culture on campus.
