Feng Ye, Founder of Thunder International Group and an alumnus of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) who enrolled in 2000, has been involved in the cross-border logistics industry for 16 years in the United States.

Feng Ye pursued his undergraduate studies at HUST's School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and later earned a master's degree in electrical engineering from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, United States, in 2006.

However, the global financial crisis in 2008 led to a shrinking US job market, making it challenging for Feng Ye to enter his field. With a sharp eye for emerging opportunities in international trade, he pivoted to the cross-border logistics industry. After gaining a year of industry experience, Feng Ye launched Thunder Express in Los Angeles in 2010, embarking on his entrepreneurial journey.

Over 16 years, Feng Ye has guided his company through steady growth. In 2016, when the cross-border transshipment business peaked, Feng Ye foresaw a downturn in the sector. He pivoted the company’s strategy, shifting its focus from cross-border transshipment services to serving Chinese e-commerce companies. By offering US-based warehousing and distribution services, he capitalized on the burgeoning growth of cross-border e-commerce.

By 2018, Feng Ye had overcome financial and personnel challenges to establish warehousing networks across multiple US states. When global e-commerce demand surged in 2020, this comprehensive warehousing infrastructure enabled Thunder International Group to achieve rapid business growth.

The group now boasts nine warehousing centers across the US, with a total storage area exceeding 1 million square feet (92,903 square meters) and a team of over 130 employees. As the current Board Chairman and 12th President of HUST's Alumni Association of Southern California, Feng Ye fosters exchange platforms and promotes resource sharing and collaboration. Under his leadership, many HUST alumni have joined the company as part of its growing team.
