Qi Yuan, an alumnus who enrolled in 1991 at the School of Artificial Intelligence and Automation at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), is currently the President of the Shanghai Academy of AI for Science, Co-founder of iDST (predecessor of Alibaba Group's DAMO Academy), and Founder of INF Co, a company specializing in trustworthy large-scale AI models.

During his undergraduate studies, Qi Yuan was recognized as an outstanding student. Courses in mathematics, signal processing, and metalworking internships solidified his theoretical and practical foundation, while the book Pattern Recognition inspired him to pursue research in AI.

In 2014, Qi Yuan joined Alibaba Group, leading an 80-member team to overcome challenges related to billion-parameter machine learning models and develop Alibaba's first-generation distributed machine learning platform, which continues to serve applications such as financial risk management and intelligent customer service.

Qi Yuan joined Fudan University in 2021, and by 2023, he launched the CFFF integrated intelligent computing platform, which combines computational power, models, and data resources. This platform supports over 10 disciplines, facilitates the publication of hundreds of high-quality research papers, and aids national-level scientific projects. The meteorological and biomedical large AI models developed on this platform have respectively improved forecasting speed and reduced drug prediction errors.

Qi Yuan founded INF Co and introduced the trustworthy Guangyu AI model in 2023, a gray-box large model. Its applications have been deployed in the financial sector, including the creation of an AI investment research assistant in collaboration with leading brokerage firms, using neuro-symbolic computation and large models to ensure both intelligence and trustworthiness.
