On March 22, Project Progress Meeting for HUST International Education and Scientific Innovation Campus (Junshan Campus) was held. Zhang Guangjun, Chair of the University Committee of HUST and Liu Ziqing, Member of the Standing Committee of Wuhan Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of Wuhan Economic Development Zone (WEDZ) Working Committee, attended the meeting.

Zhang Guangjun expressed his gratitude for the long-term support given to HUST by leaders and representatives from governments of Hubei Province, Wuhan City and WEDZ. He pointed out that the Junshan Campus would contribute to Wuhan’s endeavor to build science and technology innovation centers with nationwide influence, and is the major driving force for promoting industrial transition. He said that HUST would continue to prioritize talent training while striving to build an innovative, open, modernized and world-class campus based on the industrial layout of Wuhan Economic and Development Zone.

Liu Ziqing emphasized that universities are invaluable assets and driving force for regional economic development. Wuhan Economic and Development Zone is committed to collaborating with HUST to build the Junshan Campus. He urged both sides to expedite its construction to ensure a timely opening.

As a representative of the construction project, Liu Guanghui, Deputy Party Secretary and General Manager of Hubei United Investment Group, stressed his company’s commitment to prioritizing quality and safety. He also highlighted the role of the Junshan Campus as a key component of HUST’s teaching and research platform, which will drive the premium growth of the Wuhan Economic and Development Zone.

The main structure of the Junshan Campus in Phase I has been completed, with subsequent construction progressing steadily. It is set to be operational in September as scheduled and to receive the first batch of teachers and students.

Zhang Guangjun also visited Tongji Hospital (Junshan Branch), the pilot base of the Future Technology Innovation Research Institute and the National Intelligent Connected Vehicle (Wuhan) Test Zone.
