Feb 18, 2025

From February 7th to 14th, 2025, the 9th Asian Winter Games was held in Harbin, attracting winter sports enthusiasts worldwide. Led by Zhang Yifan, nine students from the "Yuyi" language service youth team of the School of Foreign Languages participated in the news coverage of the tournament in the capacity of official news reporter, and undertook to write the official news of the tournament and conduct post-event interviews.

To ensure the accuracy and professionalism of the reports, the team implemented a clear division of labor, with some members focusing on capturing highlights and others tracking match statistics. During the tournament, the team constantly followed up on various reports and interviewed athletes from China, Japan, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, Iran, and other countries, including Li Lei, Chisaki Maeda, and other players.

Before the tournament, the members collected competition rules, tactics, and athletes details, collaborating with the tournament staff to secure the latest information. During the tournament, they focused on the exciting moments, key goals, and tactical decisions. After the tournament, they interviewed the athletes, uncovered athletes stories and team spirits, and wrote the news in Chinese and English. Their professional, precise, and timely reports earned high praise by the Asian Winter Games Organizing Committee and domestic and international media. The hockey and curling event organizers gave special accolades to the teams contributions to streamlining news coverage.

In the media work of the Asian Winter Games, members of the official news team extended dedication and expertise in their respective roles. Member Qin Huiyan expressed her insights gained through communication with athletes from different countries and pride in Chinas hosting the grand event. Zhang Yangqian highlighted her efficiency in dealing with athlete information at the online news center, while Li Yiang emphasized skill development through interviews and compilation of event news. Ren Xinni, responsible for ice hockey coverage, noted the unique charm of sports news, while Zhang Xinran, in charge of freestyle skiing data collection, felt a sense of accomplishment through stressed work.

Established in 2009, Yuyi is composed of 14 teachers and 40 students, working in English, Japanese, German, French, and Russian. With a wealth of experience in sports events, the team has supported the 2015 to 2016 International Champions Cup in China, the 7th CISM Military World Games, the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games, and The 19th Asian Games Hangzhou.
