Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) has reached the top of the global rankings in high-performance computing for the first time, according to the 2026 edition of the Computer Science Rankings (CSRankings), a leading benchmark in the field.
This breakthrough reflects the sustained efforts of an academic team led by Professor Jin Hai, whose work spans high-performance, graph, and in-memory computing. The team’s continuous advances have strengthened HUST’s research depth and contributed to the broader development of high-performance computing worldwide.
CSRankings is widely recognized for its rigorous focus on research output and academic influence, measuring the publications of university faculty at top-tier computer science conferences. The 2026 rankings show HUST achieving a “Count” score of 3.8 and a “Faculty” score of 9 in high-performance computing, highlighting both strong research productivity and a robust team size.
As a leading force in China’s high-performance computing research, HUST’s School of Computer Science and Technology has long focused on computer architecture and has expanded its presence in frontier areas such as graph computing and in-memory computing to further elevate the university’s international academic profile.
