News Center of HUST visits Thailand's media company MCOT

Jan 14, 2026

Wang Xiaoxiao, Deputy Director of the News Center at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), led a delegation to visit MCOT Public Company Limited (MCOT) in Thailand on Jan 8. Both parties discussed deepening cooperation in education and media and explored ways to promote China-Thailand youth exchanges through visual storytelling.

Wang introduced the China-Thailand youth photography exhibition, "Digital Footprints: My Six-Week Journey at HUST", held at ICONSIAM in Bangkok. The exhibition, a vital result of Thailand’s Outstanding Development Opportunity Scholarship program, featured photos by 50 Thai students documenting their study and daily life in Wuhan, as well as scenes showcasing China’s advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and the digital economy. Pre-event coverage of the exhibition gained widespread attention in Thailand and sparked strong interest from mainstream media in further collaboration.

As a leading university in China, HUST has strong expertise in engineering, medicine, and interdisciplinary fields that combine the two. The university has established an integrated innovation system in areas like AI, the metaverse, and the digital economy, and has numerous distinguished alumni at the forefront of global technology.

HUST looks forward to establishing a strategic university-media partnership with MCOT, exploring mechanisms such as intern exchange programs, multimedia training, and the collaborative development of multimedia products, thereby creating a new platform for international communication targeting the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

Natthaphon Patharaporn, Senior Vice President of MCOT Thai News Agency, supported this collaboration proposal. He suggested signing a strategic partnership agreement with HUST and emphasized a commitment to implementing it. He also noted that as a mainstream media platform with both domestic and international reach, MCOT is willing to begin with China-Thailand cooperation to tell China’s stories to the world.

MCOT plans to collaborate with HUST to produce short videos, documentaries, and feature programs that document exchanges between Chinese and Thai youth and convey an authentic, multidimensional, and comprehensive image of China to global audiences.

MCOT is Thailand's State-owned media corporation and a publicly listed company, holding a status comparable to that of China Media Group in China.
