10th Sino-German Workshop on Industrial Metaverse held at HUST

The 10th Sino-German Workshop on Industrial Metaverse was held at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) on March 23. Co-hosted by the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the German National Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech), and organized by HUST and other institutions, the event gathered over 200 experts and scholars from China and Germany to exchange insights on technologies and applications related to the industrial metaverse.

 

 

At the opening ceremony, Zhou Ji, Honorary Chairman of the Presidium of Chinese Academy of Engineering, proposed an initiative to deepen the development of technologies, industries, talent cultivation, and cooperative mechanisms in the industrial metaverse. Michael Zäh, Member of acatech's Executive Board, highlighted the strong foundation of Sino-German collaboration, emphasizing that the academy would work with China to explore pathways for the development of the industrial metaverse.

 

Gao Liang, Vice President of HUST, explained the university's efforts in the fields of intelligent manufacturing and digital twin, saying that the industrial metaverse is a key driver of smart manufacturing transformation. He also expressed hope for further expanding Sino-German cooperation.

 

Chinese and German academicians shared their insights on topics including AI-driven transformation in manufacturing, the industrial metaverse's commercial potential, 6G communication, humanoid robots, and the urban metaverse during the keynote session of the conference. They introduced technological frameworks, application scenarios, and the challenges associated with development in these areas.

 

In the discussion session, participating experts delved into the connections between high-performance computing, AI, and the industrial metaverse, exploring pathways for industry implementation and prospects for multi-sector applications. To cultivate outstanding engineers, experts advocated for a problem-oriented approach in engineering education, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration and the integration of industry and education to build a forward-looking talent development system.

 

 

German experts and Chinese representatives visited Wuhan's enterprises for onsite inspections and discussions on March 24, gaining insights into the intelligent manufacturing development in China.

 

The conference facilitated collaborations between China and Germany in areas such as the industrial metaverse, AI, intelligent manufacturing, and talent cultivation, offering valuable insights for the smart transformation of manufacturing and international technological exchange.
