Apr 28, 2026

The 17th Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) Model United Nations Conference was held from April 17 to 19, bringing together over 100 students from more than 10 universities and high schools across Hubei province and beyond. Participants, both domestic and international, engaged in discussions on cutting-edge topics related to global governance.

Wu Haitao, Vice President of the China Public Diplomacy Association, Zhan Yiqing, Deputy Director of the University Council, and relevant school officials attended the opening ceremony.

The Model United Nations Conference is an event that simulates the operational models and procedural rules of the United Nations and related international organizations, focusing on global hot-button issues. Students take on the roles of diplomats from various countries, participating in the UN conference process. Through position presentations, policy debates, voting, and resolution negotiations, participants gain firsthand experience of the UN's working mechanisms, deepening their understanding and awareness of international affairs.

The conference conducted in both Chinese and English for communication featured three committees, focusing on three key topics: transportation and logistics networks, digital inequality in AI, and marine cultural heritage protection. Participants and their mentors shared their experiences, praising the academic quality of the event and its educational value.

The School of Foreign Languages of HUST has hosted 17 sessions of the Model United Nations Conference since 2007, with HUST's students excelling in the China National Model United Nations.
