Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) is deeply integrated into the development of the "Optics Valley of the World". On June 6, the third Optics Valley of China Artificial Intelligence (AI) Creativity Conference was held at the China Optics Valley Convention and Exhibition Center in Wuhan.

The Optics Valley Institute of AI Technology of Creativity was officially inaugurated during the conference. Spearheaded by the Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as the Optics Valley of China, or OVC) Administrative Committee and with HUST as the main supporting institution, the institute was co-established with Optics Valley Traffic Co. It aims to provide an organizational platform for the research and industrial application of AI creative technologies.

Xiong Zhengyu, Mayor of Wuhan, along with You Zheng, President of HUST, attended the conference and delivered speeches. Shen Yue, Member of the Standing Committee of Wuhan Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone, also attended the event.

In his speech, Xiong Zhengyu said that AI is reshaping countless industries at an unprecedented pace and that the establishment of the institute will inject new momentum into the development of AI creativity industry. Wuhan is currently implementing an "AI+" initiative and eight key digital economy projects, striving to become a leading city in China's digital economy. The city aims to strengthen technological innovation, expand industrial capacity, and optimize the ecosystem, promoting the integration of AI with cultural and creative industries. Wuhan will continue to highlight its "City of Design" brand to position itself as a hub for the development of the AI creativity industry.

You Zheng said that AI is reshaping the landscape of industrial development, with generative AI becoming a crucial pillar for fostering new quality productive forces. HUST will support the construction of the Optics Valley Institute of AI Technology of Creativity by focusing on three core missions: enhancing technological resources, building innovation platforms, and integrating industrial ecosystems. HUST is also set to establish the institute as a leading national hub for AI creativity technology and a powerhouse for industry incubation, injecting the university's strength into the transformation and upgrading of the cultural and creative industries in OVC and across China.

Xiong Zhengyu, You Zheng, and Shen Yue, together with Cai Xinyuan, Director of the Optics Valley Institute of AI Technology of Creativity and Dean of the School of Design at HUST, unveiled the institute.

The conference featured the appointment ceremony for the institute’s strategic advisory committee, with renowned experts and scholars such as Lu Xiaobo, Distinguished Professor of Humanities at Tsinghua University; Ma Li, Chairman of the China Animation Association; and Zhou Feng, President of the Hubei Institute of Fine Arts, appointed as committee members.

Cai Xinyuan unveiled the self-developed multimodal AI creative production platform "ARTIOO", showcasing cutting-edge achievements, including AI-driven technological pathways in the film industry and innovations in digital human expression and motion control. The conference also featured keynote speeches and thematic forums, providing a platform to highlight pioneering insights in AI creativity.
