From May 8 to 10, over 90 experts, scholars, faculty and student representatives from home and abroad gathered to discuss cutting-edge academic topics and foster collaborative innovation at the New Energy Chemistry and Device Conference 2026, hosted by Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) and organized by the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.
During the conference, 23 esteemed experts and scholars from China, the United Kingdom, Singapore, South Korea, Canada, New Zealand, and Belgium delivered invited lectures on cutting-edge topics, including covalent organic frameworks, polymer energy materials, and cycle design for energy storage batteries. Students and faculty also engaged in discussions and exchanges with the speakers.
The opening ceremony, presided over by Xia Baoyu, Deputy Dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, was attended by representatives from the Office of International Affairs (Office of Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan affairs).
This conference was organized under the framework of the new energy chemistry and device innovation and talent recruitment base. The base has attracted 11 world-renowned academic scientists from the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Sweden, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, who are collaborating with 10 academic leaders from HUST to establish a high-level innovative research platform.
The School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering focuses on addressing major national strategic needs, developing international platforms, and fostering long-term cooperation and exchanges with leading global experts, thereby building a stable and fruitful foundation for collaboration. HUST’s chemistry discipline ranks in the top 0.022 percent of the Essential Science Indicators' global rankings, showcasing distinctive strengths and advantages in the field of new energy chemistry and devices.
This conference will further promote the school’s international collaborative research, academic exchanges, and training of globally-oriented scientific talent, driving integrated innovation across the chain of energy chemistry – energy conversion – battery devices.
