Five English-language science and technology journals affiliated with Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) were listed in the 2025 World First-Class Journals directory, which was released on Sept 12 at the opening ceremony of the 19th Pujiang Innovation Forum.

They are ENGINEERING Mechanical Engineering, ENGINEERING Management, Journal of Innovative Optical Health Sciences, Current Medical Science, and Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica, covering disciplines including mechanical engineering, management, optics, mechanics, and medical science.

The 2025 World First-Class Journals directory was compiled by the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China in collaboration with relevant research institutions. Based on the World Science Citation Database and the evaluation system for world first-class science and technology journals, the directory was compiled through a comprehensive assessment using nine evaluation indicators.

It listed 6,132 science and technology journals from 55 countries and regions in 23 languages;  353 were from China, accounting for 5.8 percent of the total.

HUST will continue to strengthen the academic organization, academic leadership, academic influence, and social influence of its journals, striving to develop more world first-class science and technology journals with global influence across a wider range of disciplines.
