Alvin Chia, Deputy Cheif Executive of Land Transport Authority (LTA) Singapore, led a delegation to Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) on Sept 15.

HUST Vice President Zhang Yonghui welcomed the delegation and introduced the university's key academic disciplines and highlighted its research in intelligent construction, intelligent manufacturing, and engineering big data. He emphasized that these areas align closely with Singapore's goals of developing a digitalized, green, and intelligent land transport system, and proposed expanding joint research initiatives and collaborative talent development with Singapore.

Alvin Chia expressed his hopes to advance engineering practice projects and the application of AI in transport infrastructure, and extended a warm invitation for HUST students to intern and work in Singapore.

The two sides exchanged insights on topics such as smart transportation, green construction, and intelligent manufacturing, reaching a consensus on joint talent cultivation and collaboration among government, enterprises, academia, and research institutions.

The delegation also hosted a recruitment session at HUST for Singapore's public transportation sector and visited the State Key Laboratory of Manufacturing Equipment and Technology and the National Center of Technology Innovation for Digital Construction under the School of Civil and Hydraulic Engineering.

LTA and HUST signed a Memorandum of Understanding in April this year, establishing a long-term partnership for research, personnel training, and student internships and employment opportunities.
