On March 9, the 2024 HUST Spring Sports Carnival was held at the university’s central playground. The carnival was hosted by HUST’s Sports Committee, aiming to invigorate the campus, enrich off-class cultural life, guide students to actively participate in physical exercise, help them establish a lifelong sports awareness, and form a campus culture where everyone advocates sports and loves exercise. Zhang Yao, Vice Chair of the University Committee, was present at the opening ceremony. More than 5,000 teachers and students attended the carnival.
More than 40 fun games have been organized by around 20 sports clubs. Participants could win stamps to exchange for prizes through challenges. The well-built cultural corridor boasted the dragon culture, dragon boat culture and campus sports culture. There are also special interactive sessions such as lantern riddles, light and shadow exhibition, wishing wall, signature wall and lucky draw, where teachers and students can share the charm and joy of sports.
At 2 p.m., the Spring Carnival opened as scheduled. The audience were wowed not only by the fantastic performances from the Hip-pop Club and the Sport Dance Association, but also by some traditional Chinese martial arts performances such as Tai Chi.
After the wonderful performances, teachers from the School of Physical Education led the participants to warm up.
After the warm-up, Zhang Yao and other school leaders joined in the fun games and had in-depth communication with the students. They learned about the development of the students’ clubs and associations and spoke highly of the Sports Carnival.
As night fell, the twinkling stars in the sky above created a special atmosphere. The teachers and students had a good time participating in the games, took pictures in front of the light and shadow wall, and left their wishes on the wishing wall.
